The Mediahuis publications are reporting today (Monday) that the former head of the terrorist organisation Sharia4Belgium, Fouad Belkacem, married a few weeks ago in Hasselt prison.
He is serving his sentence here. Sources close to the case say that he is thus hoping to avoid extradition.

Fouad Belkacem befriended a Belgian citizen of Moroccan origin. Through the marriage, he is avoiding withdrawal of his nationality. If the latter were to happen, he could be immediately returned to Morocco.

Whilst he was still imprisoned in Antwerp, Mr Belkacem had not been able to marry. This was because the Alderwoman for Civil Registration at the time, Zuhal Demir (New Flemish Alliance), had not issued the appropriate marriage licence.
