The unemployment rate in Brussels was 16.5% last month, according to figures released on Monday by the region’s employment office, Actiris: jobseekers numbered 91,985, which was 4,673 fewer than in November 2016.
Joblessness among young people continued its downward trend. In November it was 10,181 (25.7%), 903 (8.1%) less than a year ago. On an annual basis, the jobless rate among young people went down from 27.2% in the year ending in November 2016 to 25.7% in the twelve-month period up to November 2017.

On the other hand, there was a slight increase of 1.3%, on an annual basis, in jobseekers aged over 50 years, who represent a quarter of the unemployed in Brussels.

Actiris received 3,441 job offers directly in November 2017, 1,248 units more than in November 2016.
