Ten other persons who are on the payroll of the Brussels Region as subsidized contractors (ACS), will have their contracts extended or terminated on 1 April 2019.
Another four French-speaking sportsmen and women are currently serving in the military under the Sport Elite Defence project.
The one-year elite sports contracts are granted by the Federation’s Ministry of Sports on a case-by-case basis following a detailed analysis of each candidate’s file by the General Administration of Sports.
Beneficiaries receive a monthly stipend and maximum access to sports performance assistance as well as support and guidance under an ADEPS initiative known as the ‘Projet de Vie’.
The contracts of 16 sports personalities have not been renewed for 2019, including Tarik Moukrime (athletics), Arthur De Greef, Clément Geens and Maryna Zanevska (tennis), François Heersbrandt (swimming) and Xavier Siméon (motor cycling).
