The trams on Antwerp’s line 11 take you into the old town down narrow cobbled streets where they can barely squeeze through.
Starting at Centraal Station, the route follows Lange Nieuwstraat to the lively Melkmarkt square. Here the trams turn back to the station, following the ancient route along Wolstraat, Kipdorp and Sint-Jacobsmarkt.
Back at Centraal Station, they run down a street behind the zoo, then onto the Zurenborg district, crossing the attractive squares Draakplaats and Tramplaats.
The best part of the ride comes towards the end as the tram rumbles down Cogels-Osylei, past flamboyant 19th-century town houses in every eclectic style you can imagine.
