17-year-old stabbed in Saint-Gilles, no suspects arrested

On Monday afternoon, a 17-year-old was stabbed in the Brussels municipality of Saint-Gilles. He is still in hospital but his life is no longer in danger, announced the Brussels' public prosecutor's office.

The stabbing took place around 14:30 near the intersection of the Louis Morichar square and the rue de la Rhétorique.

"At the scene, the police services of the Brussels South zone found a man who was severely injured on the ground and gave him first aid," said Martin Francois, the public prosecutor's spokesperson. "He was transferred to the hospital. His life is no longer in danger."

"According to initial investigations there are three suspects," he added. However, no arrests have been made so far.

The Federal Police forensics team were on the scene and a medical examiner was also appointed. "The investigation to determine the exact circumstances of the incident is ongoing."
