Ride-hailing platform Uber is launching Uber Travel in the United Kingdom, a new feature that will allow customers to also use the app for Eurostar bookings – facilitating travel to the EU.

The Uber Travel feature will allow users to book tickets across multiple modes of transport without having to visit numerous websites, download confirmation emails and re-confirm bookings, and will also introduce a feature that will automatically import upcoming trip plans (such as hotel, flight and restaurant reservations) directly into the app.

"Uber Travel forms an integral part of Uber’s vision for being a one-stop shop for door-to-door travel," said Uber UK's General Manager Andrew Brem. "This will allow our customers to plan ahead by making bookings with Eurostar, or help ease the stress of travel this summer with updated flight details automatically imported into the smart itinerary."

This means that clients in the UK looking to travel to Paris, Brussels, Lille, Amsterdam or Rotterdam by Eurostar will be able to book and pay for their trip in the Uber app, and have the journey added into their smart travel itinerary.

"By making Eurostar travel available through more channels, we aim to make it as easy as possible for passengers to enjoy the benefits of seamless and sustainable high-speed rail connections between the UK and mainland Europe," added Paul Brindley, Eurostar's Head of Indirect Sales.

Uber Travel is being rolled out to UK users now and will be available to all clients by the end of August.
