On Wednesday evening, nine people had to be treated by paramedics and five flats were rendered uninhabitable, after a fire broke out on a building in Anderlecht's Peterbospark.

According to the Brussels Fire Brigade, the fire started around 21:00 in a flat on the sixth floor of the building.

The fire had already spread by the time firemen arrived, and some inhabitants had to be rescued using air ladders from their apartment terraces.

Local neighbours had their parked cars moved in order for fire ladders to be put in place to rescue the inhabitants.
