A 47 year-old motorist has died on Thursday night following an accident on the Lier ring road in the province of Antwerp, local police have confirmed.
On the night from Thursday to Friday, the victim's car hit the road's median strip and ended up crashing in between two light poles.
Emergency services were unable to save the victim, who was already dead when they arrived.

They faced further difficulty with the removal of the car's wreckage clearing the debris, causing the ring road to be blocked for several hours.
The cause of the accident is still under investigation, however no other vehicles are believed to have been involved.
