According to the Brussels-North police zone, a patrol was able to put a stop to a revolt owing to the body cam of one of its officers.

At around 18:30 on Wednesday, police were conducting a control check on a person who then attempted to flee the scene on a scooter, on Rue Verbist and Liedekerke in the Brussels municipality of Saint-Josse-Ten-Noode.

According to police, more people then entered the fray and began shoving and hurling trash at the policemen.

One of the officers, who was wearing a body camera, informed the assailants that they were being filmed and could be identified.

The intervention then became much calmer and two people were arrested. Body cameras have been used by the Brussels-North police zone since May of this year.

The body cam images were subsequently sent to the Brussels Public Prosecutor's Office, which has now detained both individuals for acts of rebellion.

They have both been summoned to appear before the Brussels Criminal Court on 15 September.
