An elderly woman was rushed to the hospital in a serious condition after she was hit by a car as she was using a zebra path to cross an avenue in the Brussels municipality of Ganshoren, according to reports on Tuesday.
The woman, 92, sustained serious injuries to head and legs after the incident, which took place in the municipality's Avenue Marie de Hongrie just before 18:00 on Monday, according to Bruzz.
Residents in the area complain that many speeding drivers choose to go through the avenue in order to avoid going through Avenue Charles-Quint, a parallel avenue currently in works.
Authorities decided to carry out roadworks in the avenue in order to reduce the speed limit, which under new regulations may be brought down to 30 kilometres per hour, according to the outlet.
