A 33 year-old woman has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after a man in his fifties was stabbed in Molenbeek-Saint-Jean on Sunday evening.
The incident occurred in a rented flat in the Brussels municipality of Molenbeek-Saint-Jean, where a fight broke out between a man and a woman, for reasons still unknown.
Martin François, a spokesperson for the Brussels Public Prosecutor's Office, indicated that the 56 year-old man had received multiple stab wounds during the altercation, including one in the abdominal region.
He managed to flee the scene and was taken to hospital. He was in a critical condition at the time but his life is no longer believed to be in danger.
The woman was detained shortly after the incident and the investigating judge then charged the 33 year-old with attempted murder and placed her under arrest.
