Hydrogen, from renewable and low carbon sources, is crucial for tackling climate change, as recognised by the EU Hydrogen Strategy and the EU Green Deal. Thanks to its multiple end-uses and scope within the energy system, it is a vital component of Europe’s clean energy future.
Amid rising energy costs, shifting raw material availability, and the urgent need to strengthen industrial competitiveness, renewable and low carbon hydrogen can drive decarbonisation, systems resilience and efficiency, and energy autonomy.
Starting with replacing the 10 million tonnes of fossil-based, “grey” hydrogen, additional hydrogen supply will be used to decarbonise steel production and other essential but polluting industries, for long-term, flexible energy storage, and to decarbonise shipping and aviation, among other applications.
The current European mandate will introduce critical legislation to further advance the hydrogen economy, offering a powerful opportunity to develop a resilient European hydrogen supply chain, move away from fossil fuels, and achieve 2050 climate targets.
At the European Hydrogen Week, which takes place from 29 September to 3 October, the sector comes together to discuss all the latest developments happening at national, European, and global level directly with the hydrogen experts directly involved in them. From the implementation of key legislation at national level, to the development of new and improved funding instruments to support early developers, as well as the construction of essential pipelines and other infrastructure to help transport hydrogen from producers to users. All of this and more will be addressed at Brussels Expo.
Participants in the 2025 edition will engage with a notable line-up of high-level speakers, including European Commissioner Dubravka Šuica and European Commission Vice-President Teresa Ribera. The High-Level Policy Conference features high level dialogues, keynote speeches and panel debates. Discussions will span from decarbonising road transport and clean tech’s role in development to aligning energy grids with net-zero goals, financing hydrogen infrastructure and advancing clean aviation.
The B2B and Innovation forums will host some of the brightest minds in the hydrogen space – innovators and entrepreneurs working tirelessly to advance hydrogen technology and make it scalable and affordable for European consumers. At these forums, they will share their success stories as well as their insights on how to overcome the challenges.
If you are interested in the energy transition, and in making Europe a more sustainable place for the climate, for our resilience, and our own quality of life, you will not want to miss it.
Join us to get inspired and discover the newest trends in the sector!
