The blue museum tram of the former Intercommunal Transport Company in Ghent (MIVG) will once again be driving through the city this weekend, but it is not picking up any passengers because of Covid-19.

This weekend, as well as the next one, the illuminated Christmas tram - which has become in winter holiday classic in Ghent - will run in the city again.

"In consultation with (Flemish transport company) De Lijn, we have opted to let the Christmas tram run without passengers again this year," heritage association ETG said on Flemish radio.

"This way, we want to bring a little extra light and atmosphere to the city," they added.

Those who want to take a look themselves, can find the route of the museum tram on the website. The ride starts at 5:00 PM at the Korenmarkt and then passes through the historical centre again at 6:40 PM, 7:30 PM and 9:00 PM.
