A power outage caused mass confusion at Brussels Airport on Friday afternoon, leaving passengers unable to check in and baggage handling "being done in the dark".
"For the moment, we don't know what caused this power outage," said airport spokesperson Nathalie Pierard. "We are trying to find out and solve this problem as soon as possible."
Shortly after 15:00, influential N-VA Federal Minister Theo Francken shared a video on X (formerly Twitter) which showed part of the airport completely without electricity.

"Flights delayed or cancelled," he wrote. Minutes later, the airport's official X channel admitted that "some flights might be delayed".
At 16:16 the airport announced that "main operations have been restored". Belga News Agency reported that departing passengers can still expect "slight delays" to their journeys.
