Brouckère Square to be car free on October 4th-5th

In a statement this Thursday, the City of Brussels stated that La Place de Broukère  will be closed off to vehicles on the occasion of Nuit Blanche and the Brussels Marathon to be held on October 4th and 5th. Traffic will be prohibited from 6:00 PM on Saturday until Sunday evening. It is advisable for users to focus on alternative means of transportation or an alternative route. "This temporary prohibition of cars in the square (Brouckère, ed) will allow pedestrians to get an idea of what the city of Brussels will have to offer in terms of entertainment and events,” stated the City in its statement.

This year, the twelfth edition of Nuit Blanche which takes place on October 4th will showcase cinema as its theme. It will be followed by the Brussels Marathon on October 5th. "La Place de Brouckère is the perfect place for the arrival of a major event such as the Brussels Marathon. It helps bring sport to the heart of our city and we are already planning the organization of other major sporting events in the future, “stated the deputy mayor in charge of Sports, Alain Courtois.
