I Love Techno, Stromae and Live Nation awarded at the European Festival Awards

Belgium scooped three prizes on Wednesday evening at Groningen (Netherlands), during the 6th European Festival Awards. It awards the best festivals, artists and event promoters of the year. The Ghent festival “I Love techno” won “Best indoor festival”, the Brussels singer Stromae won “Best new artist” and the company Live Nation won “Best event promoter” for 2014, the organizers said in a press release. The award for Best festival went to the Hungarian festival Sziget, which wins its title back after losing it to the Serbian festival EXIT last year.

The UK also won big with four awards: Glastonbury festival (Best poster), pop-rock group Artic Monkeys (Best headliner and Best song of the Summer with “R U mine”), and the director of the company “Festival Republic” Melvin Benn won the Prix d’Excellence for his career and projects so far.

The winners were elected by the public and a jury made up of journalists and music festival professionals. More than 1.2 million people took part in the voting. 35 festivals were competing.
