Film produced by Brussels producers Caviar to be released worldwide

Brussels-based production company Caviar has signed an agreement with Sony Pictures Classics regarding distribution rights for the film “The Diary of a Teenage Girl”. The feature film was shot in Los Angeles by a subsidiary of Caviar productions. Post-production took place in Belgium.

"The diary of a teenage girl" is a first for American actress Marielle Heller and tells the story of a precocious and creative teenager who embarks on an affair with her mother’s partner. The leading roles were played by Bel Powley, Kristen Wiig (Bridesmaid, Her) and Alexander Skarsgard (Melancholia, True blood).

The film was screened for the first time last weekend at the Sundance Film Festival, the largest festival for independent films in the United States. The feature film was well received by critics, ‘Indiewire’ in particular calling it “both shocking and sincere, moving but at the same time hilarious.”

Sony Pictures Classics has decided to release the film worldwide, with the exception of Europe. It will therefore be screened in North and South America, Asia, and Australia. Information on a possible release in Europe is expected during or shortly after the Berlin International Film Festival which is due to take place February 5th-12th.
