Belgian design on show in Milan April 14th-19th

Belgium will once again feature proudly at the Milan Design Week from April 14th to April 19th. Belgian creativity will be honoured in an exhibition and a joint stand, according to representatives of the “Belgium is Design” label, which brings together the 3 regional agencies promoting Belgian design (Wallonie-Bruxelles Design/Mode, Design Vlaanderen and MAD Brussels).  The project is also supported by Brussels Invest & Export and by AWEX (Walloon Export and Foreign Investment Agency). “Given the popularity of this event, we really need to find a way to stand out and get as much exposure as possible,” explain the organisers. This is why different participants have been joining forces these past few years.

For the 2015 edition of Design Week, an exhibition called “Confronting the Masters” will showcase the skills of 10 different designers, all winners of the “Designer of the Year” award in the past 10 years and well-known internationally, including Stefan Schöning and the Muller-Van Severen partnership. The joint exhibition will be set up at the "Accademia di Belle Arti di Brera" art school, and light fittings, furniture, jewellery, and various objects chosen from their more recent work will be on show.

At the same time, a stand showcasing young Belgian designers will be present at SaloneSatellite in the Fiera Rho, as part of the Salone del Mobile. 6 new and promising designers and design studios will be showing off their best prototypes. “This is a unique opportunity to get international exposure. After previous editions of Design Week, several exhibitors were lucky enough to see their prototypes go into production,” explain the organisers.
