The second Brussels chocolate fair opened its doors on Thursday evening at Palais 1 in Brussels Expo (Heysel), with its traditional chocolate dress catwalk. It is officially open to the public from Friday, and will stay open until Sunday. “We are very proud to welcome the Chocolate fair to Brussels. Belgium is known for three products: beer, waffles, and chocolate. Chocolate is our trademark. We hope that this Brussels fair will become known internationally, and we will support it, as the chocolate sector carries us”, said Philippe Close, the Tourism councilor for Brussels. He also thanked the organizers for ‘believing in destination Brussels”.
On Thursday evening, visitors saw the creations of fashion designers combined with the savoir-faire of Belgian chocolatiers, such as Jean-Philippe Darcis and Lauranne Jaegher, Arnaud Larher and Lauren Biter, and Laurent Gerbaud and Patou Saint-Germain.
Last year, the event welcomed nearly 30,000 people. In its 6,000 square meters, the fair welcomed 110 participants and 80 exhibitors, artisan and industrial chocolatiers.
The event offers animations, dedication sessions, meetings with bosses, catwalks (every day at 5pm), workshops, tastings…. “It’s a moment of sharing and exchange, but also an act of love. The chefs bake, “chocolate”, and cook above all, for others”, said Sylvie Douce, Co- founder of the Chocolate fair. She was born in Paris in 1995.
The Chocolate fair will be open from Friday (10am to 8pm), Saturday (10am to 7pm) and Sunday (10am to 6pm).
