Children celebrated at Wallonia Festival in Namur

The Wallonia Festival, in Namur from Sunday September 13th to Monday 21st, will focus on children this year. Wallonia Central Council (CCW) presented its programme on Thursday.

Children will be celebrated with the slogan “les wallo du p'tit Francwès”. Many activities will be on offer especially in the marquee on Place d'Armes, including “Playing Truant with P'tit Francwès” (September 18th), where over 600 Year 6 and Year 7 pupils from Namur will be able to enjoy a giant picnic and all sorts of games centred on Wallonia.

A junior edition of the Walloniades, a tournament of old games and sporting challenges, celebrating its 25th anniversary this year, will be open to 6-to-14-year-olds for the first time on Friday September 18th.

CCW celebrations will include the Gaillarde d’Argent prize (to be awarded on Sunday, September 13th) rewarding Walloons who have been proactive in showcasing their country. It will be awarded at the International French-language Film Festival (FIFF) taking place in Namur for the 30th time, from October 2nd to 9th. Other events at the 2015 edition of the Wallonia festival will include a mass in Walloon (September 21st), a battle on stilts (September 20th), and the guest of honour, Quebec.
