Police apprehended 152 festival goers for drug possession at the Pukkelpop, the biggest alternative open-air music festival in Belgium, while two suspected drug dealers were arrested, the Office of the Public Prosecutor of Limburg disclosed on Sunday evening. The police carried out systematic checks using sniffer dogs at the four-day event, held from Wednesday to Saturday in Kiewit, a village near the town of Hasselt. Of the 152 persons apprehended, 108 were let off with a fine, while the 44 others received citations that they will have to pay within two weeks.
One of the two persons suspected of dealing in drugs has already been brought before a judge, while the court issued the second suspect with an immediate summons requiring him to appear before the correctional court in the coming weeks.
