The work on the Palace of Justice’s facades should be brought to an end in 2030, and then the building should be freed from its ancestral and famous scaffolding, said Jan Jambon, Minister in charge of Public Buildings, during a House Committee, in response to Karine Lalieux (PS). The work will be accomplished in several phases: facades of the Place Poelaert from 2018 to 2022; the Rue de Wynants and the dome’s socle from 2022 to 2026; the Rue aux Laines from 2024 to 2028; and Rue des Minimes Street from 2026 to 2030.
The overall cost of the facdes' restoration and of the related studies is estimated at 80 million euros.
