The Ixelles teenager who confessed to killing his mother in France has been handed over to Belgian authorities

The  Ixelles teenager suspected of killing his mother on August 25th in a home in Wissant, in the Nord-Pas-de-Calais, France, was handed over to the Belgian authorities last week stated the Brussels public prosecutor on Monday. It has not been confirmed whether the young man has been placed in a mental institution, as some media has reported.  The investigation is being carried out entirely by Belgian authorities.  A juvenile judge as well as a magistrate have been assigned to the case.

The boy and his mother were vacationing in their second home in the seaside resort of Wissant when the tragedy occurred. According to the preliminary investigation, the young man  struck his mother in the head several times with a coal bucket , however the autopsy did not reveal that the death was the result of the blows.

According to police, the teenager was immediately recognized as the author of the violent assault which resulted in the death of his mother. Some media has reported that the young man suffers from schizophrenia but the Brussels public prosecutor did not release information supporting that statement.
