Suspects in murder of Etterbeek plumber due in court

The Brussels public prosecutor plans to bring before the court the three suspects in the murder of 58- year old Robert Dupuis, an Etterbeek plumber shot near his home on June 10th, 2011.  On Thursday, news agency, Belga, reported that the case will be heard on  November 27th. The investigation has been a slow one. The victim was a plumber and owned several houses and apartments. Married to a Dominican woman with three children, Robert Dupuis visited the Dominican Republic frequently leaving his son, David, to manage his estate.

Three weeks after the murder, police arrested a prime suspect, nicknamed “Hangaround” by the Outlaw motorcycle gang. The shooter, also a member of the band, was arrested in September 2011. He confessed and stated that the son of the victim planned the crime because he worried about losing his inheritance  after his father’s second marriage. “Hangaround” was the middleman.

David Dupuis was arrested in November 2011, but released in August 2012. His presumed accomplice was subsequently released.
