Driver attempts to drive through police checkpoint in Laeken

On Sunday, in Laeken, a driver tried to force their way through a police checkpoint and in doing so endangered the life of a cyclist. The intoxicated driver was later intercepted in Vilvoorde stated Brussels prosecutors on Tuesday. The man is being charged with failure to comply, endangerment, and driving under the influence. The vehicle inspections were carried out in collaboration with the Vilvoorde department of motor vehicles on Vilvoorde Avenue in Laeken. It lasted two and a half hours and 743 vehicles were inspected. Nineteen already had tickets while 13 others were issued a ticket and 5 more were suspended from driving.

During the inspection, a vehicle tried to drive through the police barrier and endangered the life of a cyclist. The driver of the vehicle was stopped in Vilvoorde. He had no driver's license and the registration of the vehicle had expired.
