Railway traffic interrupted near Courrière on the Brussels-Luxembourg line, due to an accident involving a person, resumed shortly before 9p.m., said Thierry Ney, SNCB spokesman. The 59-year-old lady was struck by train on Monday around 7p.m. near Courrière (province of Namur), reported the emergency department agents present on site. Two trains were blocked with the commuters still on board after the accident. Due to the accident happening on a one way route, two train services came to a complete stop on line 162 from Brussels to Luxembourg and a shuttle between Namur and Ciney was set up. Traffic has now been restored and current delays on this line are expected to be back to normal by Monday evening.
According to the emergency services, a woman aged 59 was hit and killed. It is currently unclear if this was an accident or an intentional act. The Namur deputy public prosecutor traveled to the scene.
