An individual was intercepted in Paris as part of the investigation into the murder of an Algerian man residing illegally in Belgium, which occurred on September 6th in Charleroi. The victim was stabbed in the heart during an altercation with a group of young people of African origin in the middle of Avenue de l’Europe, in Charleroi. The man died instantly.
This deadly fight has had repercussions. Later after the incident shots were fired at the windows of two African cafes in Charleroi.
The investigation led to the identification of the suspect, who had fled in the direction of France. He was intercepted in Paris and placed under arrest. The man, who confessed to also staying in Belgium illegally, appeared in a Charleroi court on Friday.
