A 15-year old girl was run over around 7:30PM on Monday night on the route des Barrages (N978) between Walcourt and Silenrieux (Cerfontaine, province of Namur). This incident was reported on Tuesday morning by the deputy prosecutor of Namur. According to a witness, the victim, who was wearing dark clothing, ran along the road and then crossed just as a car was approaching. The driver, traveling towards the N5 to Somzée, was unable to avoid the teenager who was killed instantly.
The passengers of the vehicle, a 28-year old man, his girlfriend and their two year old child, are in shock.
The prosecutor sent an expert to the scene of the accident to establish the exact circumstances of the accident. The only witness is yet to be heard.
The FloWal (Florennes-Walcourt) area police were on the scene to examine the findings.
