A 6-year-old girl from Raeren (Liège province) was the victim of a kidnapping attempt as she travelled home from school on Monday, announced Eupen public prosecutor’s department on Tuesday. This confirms information published on the Grenz-Echo website. The little girl’s mother wrote about the incident on her Facebook page.
“The girl explained that a car pulled up next to her as she was walking home from school and a man grabbed her by the arm and tried to pull her into the vehicle. The girl screamed, causing the man to drive away”, said Eupen public prosecutor’s department.
The police quickly arrived at the scene and carried out various checks. “One person was arrested but was released after all information given was verified,” said Eupen’s deputy public prosecutor, adding that an investigation is currently underway.
