Ongoing investigation into attempted kidnapping in Marche

An investigation is underway regarding the alleged attempted abduction of a teenage girl on Wednesday in Marche-en-Famenne, announced Luxembourg district public prosecutor’s department on Friday. “The case is currently at the information-gathering stage,” said Luxembourg prosecutor’s press spokeswoman, Sarah Pollet. “As yet, we don’t have enough evidence to launch an official search warrant.”

The 15-year-old girl was the victim of a kidnapping attempt on Saturday at around 5:00pm, while she was on her way home in Marche-en-Famenne. She said a white van pulled up next to her in the street while she was walking down the road. An individual got out of the rear door to drag her in but she was able to break free and run off.

The family has posted a description of the vehicle and its occupants on Facebook. “This vehicle was dirty white with a light grey bonnet and a yellow license plate,” said the girl’s post. “The driver had short blond hair and was wearing sunglasses. I did not see the man who tried to grab me clearly, but he had dark hair and a kind of scarf around his neck.”
