The he Ghent department of East Flanders Prosecutor’s Office has confirmed that the 24-year-old woman who had been reported missing after leaving her house on Monday night was found dead on Ghent’s Nijverheidskaai on Wednesday. It appears she may have killed herself. Her disappearance was considered “worrying” and police searches for the woman were being conducted with the help of sniffer dogs and a helicopter.
On Tuesday, the police and Public Prosecutor’s office issued an alert to be on the look out for the young woman, whose body was later found along Nijverheidskaai on Wednesday morning. It is believed no other person or persons were involved.
An autopsy will be carried out.
