A tribute to the victims of the Holocaust in the main Synagogue in Brussels

National authorities paid tribute to the victims of the Holocaust on Monday evening, during a ceremony to commemorate 70 years since the liberation of the concentration camps. Under heavy police and military surveillance, the Jewish community joined politicians and religious leaders to pay tribute to the victims of the Holocaust. The ceremony took place in the main Synagogue in Brussels on Monday evening.

“This demonstration is for the living”, said Philippe Markiewicz, Presidnet of the Israelite community in Brussels, during the opening speech.

The King and Queen, the Prime Minister and a Jewish delegation will go to Auschwitz on Tuesday.
