2 bogus policemen steal over 20,000 euros from 80-year-old Ottignies woman

On Monday, a woman from Ottignies (Walloon Brabant) was tricked into allowing 2 men into her home and then robbed of a substantial amount of money. This information was announced by Nivelles Prosecutor’s office on Tuesday, along with a warning that this sort of crime is on the rise.

A bogus policeman and his accomplice went to the woman’s home on Monday and tricked her into letting them in, claiming that a burglar had already been in her home and asking her to check if anything was missing. The woman, born in 1935 in White Ry, Ottignies, showed the bogus policemen where she hid her savings, which they took from her (approximately 20,000 euros) before running off, added Nivelles Prosecutor’s Office.
