Bomb alert at the Carré in Willebroek

Bomb alert at the Carré in Willebroek

The “Carré” discotheque in Willebroek was evacuated on Monday morning following a bomb alert. A section of the A12 motorway, which was within the safety perimeter set up by police, was closed. This caused huge traffic problems, said Eddy Bevers, the New Flemish Alliance mayor of Willebroek. The establishment is being searched to find any suspicious objects. The number of people who were evacuated is not known.

“At around 6am, the Fire department received a call saying there was a bomb”, the mayor said. “They immediately decided to evacuate the Carré and set up a 200 meter safety perimeter. The A12 was temporarily shut in both directions between Londerzeel and Breendonkstraat”.
