Woman's body found in Meuse at Jambes

The body of a woman was removed from the Grands Malades lock in Jambes just before 9:00am on Friday, revealed Namur Public Prosecutor's office. The victim has not been identified. A preliminary examination of the body revealed nothing suspicious.  An employee from the hydraulic ways department called the police at approximately 8:45am to report that a body had been found in the Meuse.

A deputy prosecutor arrived onsite immediately, along with a forensic expert and agents from the judicial police.

The victim, allegedly a 60-year-old woman, has yet to be identified. “She had no wallet, no ID, no wedding ring, and there seem to be no missing persons reports with her characteristics,” according to the deputy.

No suspicious circumstances were established after the first examination of the body.
