Marc Coucke invests 75 million euros in Oostende real estate group

Businessman Marc Coucke announced on Wednesday that he has bought 50% of Oostende real estate group Groep Versluys shares. This investment, representing 75 million euros, is Marc Coucke’s first since he sold Omega Pharma to the Perrigo group. Marc Coucke says he had 2,000 serious offers to consider when making his investment decision. Eventually he chose a company he already knows through KV Oostende football club, which he chairs.

The flashy pharmacist will make other investments. “Half of the 2,000 investment opportunities came from start-ups. 20% involved takeovers, 15% came from firms in difficulty, and the rest from smaller companies offering shares,” explained the businessman.

Through the sale of Omega Pharma, Marc Coucke pocketed 1.25 billion euros, half in hard funds and the other half in Perrigo shares.
