Alex Joseph voted top young chef in Benelux

The American Alex Joseph, born 1985 and chef at the Ixelles Rouge Tomate restaurant was voted best young chef in Benelux in the S.Pellegrino Young Chef 2015 competition on Monday. The jury of Sergio Herman, Kobe Desramaults and David Martin opted for Alex Joseph after tasting his “Rabbit delight with potato puree, seasonal vegetables, violet mustard, and marinated wild onions.”  The winner will now intern with the 3 judges in order to prepare for the end of June competition.

3,620 young chefs from 192 countries took part in this contest.

Alex Joseph is from California and has worked at the Cyrus (California), Eleven Madison Park and Rouge Tomate in New York. He arrived in Belgium in June 2009 for what was meant to be a 3-month work placement at Rouge Tomate.
