Conductors on trains could lose on average 100 euros a month

The SNCB’s new ticket policy, with the same supplement of 7 euros for all tickets onboard trains, is not popular with Conductors. It means they risk losing an average of 100 euros commission a month, the Het Laatste Nieuws revealed on Thursday. Since the 1st of February, the SNCB has encouraged passengers to buy a ticket before they get on the train, with the same supplement of 7 euros added to the price of any ticket bought onboard. The Conductors get commission on sales of tickets onboard trains.

“In 2013, the SNCB paid out 2.75 million euros in this sort of bonus”, says the Mobility Minister Jacqueline Galant. That is around 100 euros per conductor per month, as the SNCB has 3,000 conductors.

The MP Stefaan Van Hecke (Green) wants the SNCB to provide compensation for them.
