A fire that started in the early hours of Saturday totally destroyed a house in rue d’Aerschot in Schaerbeek. No-one was injured in the incident, but the Prosecutor’s office has opened an investigation as it thinks it was started deliberately. The fire was spotted at 00.45am, in a building that was being worked on. Four people are registered as living at the address, but no-one was in. The fire department found mattresses, which makes them think it was being used as a squat.
The Prosecutor’s office suspect the fire was started deliberately as the flames spread so quickly, and they could smell solvent. The house was completely destroyed. The Prosecutor’s office asked an expert to look at the house.
