Man charged with indecent assault on 4-year-old in Anderlecht

A 63-year-old man was arrested on the charge of indecent assault without using violence or threats on a 4-year-old child on Sunday April 26th. The assault took place in a tramway in Anderlecht shortly before midday on the previous day, revealed the Brussels prosecutor on Thursday, confirming news published by the daily La Derniere Heure (DH). The prosecutor added that the arrest warrant was confirmed by the council chamber last Thursday. The investigating judge requested a psychological assessment of the suspect as well as the analysis of his computer equipment.

As for the exact facts, the prosecutor reveals that the man stood in front of the child on the tramway and kissed him on the mouth, then grabbed his arm and tried to hold on to him. A witness stepped forward, and the suspect immediately let go of the child. The driver blocked the doors and kept the suspect inside. At this point in the investigation, CCTV images confirm what the victim said. The investigation is on-going. The Brussels prosecutor will give no other details for now.

According to DH, a search at the suspect’s home in Anderlecht found a playroom where containing, amongst other things, lollipops and several rolls of toilet paper rolls.
