At least 500 people have become victims of prepaid credit card fraud. Some lost as much as several hundred euros, the Het Belang van Limburg and Gazet van Antwerpen revealed on Monday. Numerous people don’t even know their credit card has been hacked. Prepaid cards are not linked to a bank account. They can be topped up, like a mobile phone for example. The consumer can choose a precise amount, with a maximum limit of 8,000 euros. Axa, Belfius and bpost all offer this kind of service. Brussels judicial police already know about 500 victims.
