Liège policewoman dies after trying to commit suicide with service weapon

A policewoman from the Federal Judicial Police (FJP) in Liège, who tried to commit suicide with her service weapon on Monday afternoon, has died at the hospital she was taken to in a critical state, revealed a police source on Wednesday. The 42-year-old woman was inside the FJP lab at the former Liège courthouse when she tried to shoot herself in the head with her weapon.

The policewoman had joined the police force 15 years ago. She was taken to hospital in a critical state with her life clearly in danger. She died on Tuesday from her injuries.

It is not clear why the policewoman did this, according to her colleagues. The cause is most probably a private one.
