Belgian malls see 22 million visitors in first quarter

The 15 largest shopping centres in Belgium attracted approximately 21.9 million visitors in the first quarter of 2015, which is 1.95% fewer than last year, according to figures presented by BLSC (Belgian Luxembourg Council of Shopping Centres). The downturn is explained by the currently poor economic situation, but also by competition from e-commerce, pointed out Laurent Wille, general secretary of the organisation. “Shopping centre turnover remained stable however,” he added. BLSC  is a group of major shopping mall and retail park owners, investors, and managers in Belgium and in the Grand Duchy of Luxemburg.
