Power cut at Belgocontrol – “Economic impact could reach 50 million euros”

The economic impact of the power cut which affected Belgocontrol on Wednesday could reach 50 million euros, fears the Voka chamber of commerce in Hal-Vilvorde. Director Paul Hegge explained the problem will soon be resolved and will not happen again. “Total economic profit for the airport reaches 100 million euros per day,” explains Paul Hegge. “Wednesday’s blackout could cost 50 million euros. Some of that amount can be recovered with delayed flights, but most is lost.
