Monsignor Léonard stands down: the archbishop could leave Belgium

After his successor has been chosen by the Pope, Monsignor Léonard could leave Belgium, the archbishop himself revealed in an interview with Ring-TV, the local Hal-Vilvorde station, on Monday. The archbishop was visiting a school in Dilbeek. Mgr André-Joseph Léonard was expecting the procedure to name his successor to take several months. “I will remain active afterwards, but in the diocese of Namur or Malines-Brussels. I might not even be in Belgium. I plan to live elsewhere and continue to work as a bishop, if possible”, said Mgr Léonard, during an interview with Ring-TV. He did not say where he would go.
