Belgium borrows 2.4 billion euros at negative rates

Belgium has borrowed a total of 2.446 billion euros via 3- and 6-month treasury certificates, again at negative rates, reported the Treasury's Debt Agency this Tuesday. More specifically, 1.24 billion euros were borrowed through 3-month treasury certificates at an average rate of -0.203%; 1.206 billion additional euros were raised through 6-month treasury certificates at an average rate of -0.2%. These negative rates, which are becoming the norm, mean that Belgium will pay back slightly less than it originally borrowed.
