A large Franco-Belgian stolen car trafficking ring was dismantled in Oise (France). Around 90 Gendarmes were involved, and around a dozen men suspected of being behind the trafficking were arrested. Wrecks bought in Belgium were used to disguise the vehicles, the La Marne newspaper revealed. The French Justice system started investigating in August 2013. According to the Meaux Gendarmerie, the individuals stole cars, and then disguised them using a wreck of the same model, which they bought in Belgium. The vehicles were then registered with the Belgian chassis number.
According to La Marne, 39 cars stolen from the Parisian region and the South of Picardie have been identified.
During the searches, the Gendarmes found a large quantity of cannabis and cash.
It is not known if there are any Belgians among the suspects.
