The New Flemish Alliance wants stations to be managed by Infrabel

The New Flemish Alliance wants all Belgium’s stations to be transferred from the SNCB to the railway infrastructure manager Infrabel. The Flemish party thinks this reform is necessary due to the liberalisation of the railway, De Tijd said on Wednesday. “The SNCB cannot continue to manage the stations as it can use its monopoly to penalise foreign operators, by making tariffs too high, for example. We want an even playing field for everybody”, says MP Inez De Coninck. “Infrabel needs to become the independent body that manages this network”.

The MP will submit a draft resolution to Parliament.
