High season opens on Belgian coast

The traditional official opening of high season took place on Belgian beaches on Friday. Bracelets will be handed out to children as part of the “I must stick to the path!” campaign, in order to avoid them getting lost. From July 1st, 1,400 helpers will allow hundreds of thousands of tourists to safely enjoy their holidays on some 34 km of beach. “We have the safest beaches in Western Europe,” pointed out Carl Decaluwé, the governor of the province.

The bracelets handed out to children are decorated with Maya the Bee and Vicky the Viking, in partnership with Plopsaland.
