New traffic jam record for Belgian roads

Structural traffic jams on Belgian roads hit a record high during the first six months of 2015. This is according to statistics from Touring Mobilis, which were relayed by the Sudpresse papers and the Dutch-language papers Het Nieuwsblad and Het Belang van Limburg on Tuesday. There were 607 hours of at least 100 kilometre long traffic jams on Belgian roads during the first semester of 2015.

The biggest traffic jam was on the 24th of January, with 716 kilometres of traffic jams. “The increase in the number of structural traffic jams is very alarming. We have a chronic problem which will need drastic measures to sort out. Not doing anything will cost our society millions”, says Touring.
